Nissan Sentra symbols and warnings
There are more than 25 possible lights that can light up for a variety of reasons.
While this guide is helpful, please refer to your owner's manual after reading this list.
Nissan Sentra engine failure

There are hundreds of reasons why the check engine light comes on and only your dealer or mechanic is qualified to fix it.
Common causes include a loose gas cap, excessive vibration, a stuck cylinder, poor fuel mixture, excessive heat and half power.
This can also indicate a problem with your transmission.
Check Nissan Sentra engine oil

This means your engine oil is running low or has been completely drained. Your engine may have an extensive oil leak and a mechanic is badly needed.
At this stage it is not recommended that you drive your vehicle.

These lights can also mean that the handbrake is on.

This means your battery is low in voltage and may need to be replaced.

This symbol represents excessive heat from your engine's radiator. Failure to do so could result in your engine overheating very quickly.
Common reasons are low coolant level and a leak in the radiator.

This symbol represents the front or rear parking sensors. You will also hear a beep when you approach a wall, pole, tree or other object while reversing.

This means that one of your driving lights has stopped working and will require either a bulb or fuse change.
Nissan Sentra low beam on

This means your standard front running lights are on.
These lights are used for 99.9% of driving.
Nissan Sentra high beam on

This means your front high beams are on.
These lights are used for 0.01% of trips and typically on late night country roads. Fines can be imposed for using high beams in densely populated areas. DO NOT use high team headlights within 400 meters (1,000 feet) of an oncoming car.

This means your standard front automatic running lights are on.
These light up automatically at dusk, when entering a tunnel and in other low-light situations.
Automatic high beam Nissan Sentra on

This means that your front automatic high beams are on.
Please be careful that these lights will not turn on automatically around other cars.
Malfunction of the automatic lighting Nissan Sentra

Nissan Sentras are equipped with automatic lights, but these can fail.
This is often a problem with the front low light sensor. You can drive on and just use your normal on/off headlight function until you see a mechanic.

While your front hood may appear closed, it may appear open on the sensor.

Note: In some areas it is illegal to use fog lights unless it is foggy. Please check with your local authority.
Nissan Sentra ABS system error / ABS system off

Your vehicle's ABS system has failed and may not intervene under hard braking.
Please see a mechanic as soon as possible.
Nissan Sentra ECO Mode On

ECO mode in a Nissan Sentra is an optimal driving mode.
Your gas pedal does not respond favorably to performance driving.
Instead, your fuel economy will be optimal, hence the term 'Eco'.
Nissan Sentra truck / trunk open

While your rear trunk/trunk may appear closed, it may appear open on the sensor.
Nissan Sentra front radar activated

This means your front sensor is activated.
This feature provides autonomous braking and adaptive cruise control.
Nissan Sentra Spur assistant Ein

This means your lane departure warning system is on.
This feature allows your vehicle to stay straight within its lane.
This may only intervene above 40 km/h or 25 mp/h.
Nissan Sentra ESP / ESC activated

This means that your Nissan's Electronic Stability Program (or Electronic Stability Control in some countries) has been activated.
This typically occurs on wet, muddy, or icy roads.

This means your brake fluid has run low and may need topping up.

This means your brake pads have gone low.

This means your heated seats are on.
The number of vertical lines represents the heat level.

This means that your cruise control has been activated and is ready to use.
However, your cruise control will donotto be on. It's just ready to turn on.

This means you have a problem with your wheel.
This is not the rubber tire but the wheel itself.
Problems include alignment, steering and balance.

This means your windshield will be heated to melt frost or ice.

Green
When a Nissan dash warning light illuminates green or blue, it is simply telling you that one of your car's functions is in use or has been activated. No action is required at this time.
Gelb
When a traffic light is amber, your car is trying to let you know that a less common car safety feature is being used (e.g. wet road stability control), a minor fault has been detected, or a repair may be required. Orange or Red
